Founders: The Beacon Field Architects

   
W.F.P. Reid Sr. (seated center) was the owner of Beacon Field Airport and City View land tract.   He was also the Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors from 1926 to 1939.   Photo was taken during the September 1938 Fairfax County Board of Supervisors meeting: Left to right, seated, G. Wallace Carper, Providence; W.F.P. Reid, Mount Vernon; Miss Edith Rodgers, Dranesville (First Woman Elected to Board of Supvs.). Standing, J.T. Blencoe, Lee; D.W. Buckley, Centreville; and Charles H. Powell, Providence.
 
Frank Reid (right), President of Alexandria-Virginia Airport Inc. (1944-1959) Frank was the son of W.F.P. Reid Sr. On the left is Al Steidel. An Aeronca and BT-13 have been identified directly behind Frank and Al.
